Delayed ports in South China
We would like to inform you that, as a result of the latest information received from our Hong Kong office, the operations of the port of Yantian (China) are getting complicated as more positive cases of COVID have been confirmed in Shenzhen, where Yantian and Shekou ports are located. This situation has led the local authorities to take new measures, which is why an increase in congestion and delays of operational vessels are expected due to the closure of the ports of Yantian and Shekou, as well as traffic congestion in the port of Nansha and Longer than usual waiting times for the collection of empty containers and the entry of loaded containers, as all traffic from South China is being diverted to Nansha as the only available port at the moment. We are informed that the density of the Yantian International Container Terminal (YICT) yard remains high and local authorities continuously implement disinfection and quarantine measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19. It should be noted that this area is where ships mainly dock and that is where productivity is lower than normal, specifically 30% less. We will continue to inform about it.
